Evaluating the Knowledge, Readiness, and Satisfaction Level of Emergency Medical Service Personnel after an Online Chemical Mass Casualty Response Training Program

Introduction: Compared to trauma-based injuries, chemical injuries can inflict widespread and persistent exposed victims. Emergency medical services (EMS) personnel are vulnerable injuries. Specialized training is required, including zone setup, personal protective equipment (PPE), decontamination, antidote use, beyond simple advanced trauma life support. The purpose of this study evaluate the educational effectiveness online chemical-mass casualty incident response education module (C-MCIREM) for EMS personnel. Method: This a retrospective pre-and post-test comparison. Subjects were who enrolled in C-MCIREM program at Korea conference between August 27, 2021 September 5, 2021. provided demographic data completed pre-course post-course knowledge tests self-assessments readiness, as well satisfaction survey after course. For readiness surveys, an 11-point Likert scale was used. Wilcoxon Rank Sum test used compare two samples. Results: A total 322 respondents enrolled. Two-hundred (62.1%) responded that they most motivated take course because curiosity about subject. median score 57/100 (47, 66) post-knowledge 80/100 (66, 91) (p<0.001). Participants stated felt their provide triage, treatment, transport, select correct antidotes, use PPE (all p<0.001) increased. 90.4% satisfied with overall format (7.71/10 SD 2.05), willing recommend other providers (7.63/10 2.1). Conclusion: showed high significant increase self-assessed respond mass incident.
